Site Survey

Once the foundations are completed we will visit site to measure the groundworks and ensure that the Oak frame building is cut to the measurements of the base. 

We must once again stress that should the as built groundwork dimensions differ significantly to the foundation plans, there could be a knock on effect to the production of the cutting lists for the Oak frame whilst the plans are resolved and updated to suit the new dimensions. 

Oak~Craft at Holmsley Mill use ‘Green Oak’ which means freshly milled timber which has a high moisture content.  As Green Oak dries out over time, it will move, split and shake as it does, all of which are expected and represent no threat to structural integrity, however, it does mean that the building can not be cut and joinered and then stored for any length of time as the joints will not fit together when assembly commences. 

Therefore we cut all Oak frames specifically for the individual project. As a result, before we commence milling the timbers for your project, the second deposit must be received.
